There are many collections of digitized newspapers available on the Internet, ranging from a single newspaper's historical archives to many newspapers in one state, to many newspapers from many states across the nation. One of the largest collections is available for free on the Library of Congress' Chronicling America website. Many digitized newspapers, like the Historical New York Times, can be found in large library database collections, such as Proquest. If your local library does not have access, try your nearest college or university library.

Original copies or microfilm copies of newspapers are available in many local libraries, archives, and historical societies. Newspapers on microfilm can often be borrowed on Inter-library Loan (ILL); ask your librarian or archivist if you are interested in borrowing a specific newspaper.
